Skinship Larp @ AI Party Pep Rally

Susan Ploetz (Faculty Berlin ’19) is running a larp titled Skinship as part of the festival AI Party Pep Rally, by Bombina Bombast, based in Malmö.

Describing the Skinship larp (or, Touching Intelligence in its online iteration), Susan explains;

Participants play alien sensing-creatures exploring their surroundings and objects/beings in a strange new land, combining the information they collect in a multi-lingual poem-like matrix in/for their distributed collective intelligence/memory. In this two-hour experience participants will be guided through some light sensory awareness exercises centered around touch, and will make simple characters to explore a world both fictional and very physical, creating a world that is at once very sensorial and very abstract. We will have time to share experiences and discuss a bit after. In this atypical online experience, we will turn our screens off for the larp runtime, and focus on the audio aspects of our online connections while also being very present with our physical surroundings.

These new experiments in online larp will be run on December 1st and 3rd from 13:00-15:00 CET.

No experience in larping or sensory awareness techniques required. The experience will be facilitated in English, but play is open to being multilingual. Play will be audio focused, so may not be suitable for those that have hearing impairments. Please contact in advance if you have any special requirements, questions or concerns. To RSVP (and for questions/info) please send an email to matilda@bombinabombast.com. Once you have reserved your spot, you will be sent more information on what to expect and how to prepare ahead of the online-larp. (More information is available here, and here.)

Following the larp, Susan will also give a talk on Dec 3rd, from 16:00-17:00.

“Originally this larp was designed using soft robotics I developed in collaboration with Jonas Jørgensen from the Center for Soft Robotics at the Biorobotics section of the University of Southern Denmark https://jonasjoergensen.org/. In the talk I will explore how the robots were involved in the irl versions of the larp, and how I use larp and somatics as potent tools to explore HRI (Human Robot Interactions) and issues around Artificial Intelligence.” – Susan Ploetz
